One Nature Lover on a Mission
Hi there! I’m Caitey.
Ever since I was little, I’ve felt a deep connection to nature.
Growing up in my hometown of Summerland, BC, my mom would take me and our dogs hiking along creeks, through the woods and into the wilderness of the Okanagan Valley. She taught me to love trees, animals, bugs and all the little lifeforms that make up our ecosystems.
In 2005, I moved away from the desert biome of the Okanagan into the temperate rainforested area of Vancouver, BC. I was stunned by its towering trees, ocean-scented air and mountain wilderness. I developed an overwhelming desire to run away into the woods.
And so that’s what I’ve been doing, every chance I can get.
Each week you can find me climbing mountains, crossing creeks and getting muddy in the BC wilderness. I consider the forest to be my home away from home, and I want to make sure it’s healthy and accessible for generations to come.
A Few Other Random Facts
Conquered the WCT.
One of my most memorable hikes was on West Coast Trail, a 75-km journey on Vancouver Island famous for its ladders and mud. The adventure was the catalyst for my career shift from marketing to forestry.
Runs and runs and runs…
I love running on my local trails! I even mapped and ran a solo marathon that spanned across four cities. Training for such a long time and distance was an amazing (and worthwhile) test of discipline!
Nerds out on occasion.
Board games like Zombicide, Mechs vs Minions and Dungeons & Dragons are my jam! There’s no clever tie to forestry here. I’m just a huge nerd who likes to play games with friends.
Let’s Get to Know Each Other
If you’re in the forestry industry (or even if you aren’t but just want to connect), I’d love to get to know you better on LinkedIn. Send me a message and tell me about yourself!
